Call for 2026 Research Proposals is Now Closed

2026 REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP)

With funds generated through donations and fundraising events, the NTRF annually provides grants to academic researchers to improve turfgrass management, ensuring healthy grass systems for years to come.

Researchers from universities from across Canada and the northern US states who are working in turfgrass management and are seeking funding, are invited to apply for an NTRF grant.

The Call for Proposals is now closed.  Successful applicants will be notified by March 2, 2026.

2026 Research Priority Areas

Following a recent industry survey, NTRF has identified the following top research needs for 2026:

Turfgrass variety performance and breeding innovations
Sustainable turfgrass management practices
Soil health and nutrient management
Biologically natural turf management
New instrumentation, robotics, and software technologies
Disease and pest resistance strategies
Climate resilience and adaptation to extreme weather
Control of ants and worm castings
